2013 Alumnae Oral History Project

Videos of alum

These recordings are being made available for a limited time for research purposes only. They can be accessed only on Smith campus (including via Smith WiFi).

Every year since 2010 current Smith students conducted videotaped interviews with alumnae returning for reunion week. In 30 minute oral histories, these alumnae recall memories of their years at Smith, from their first days convocation to memorable professors their reflections of the ways in which being Smithie has impacted their lives. In these oral histories, which are now part of the College Archives, alumnae speak about cherished Smith traditions and recall the social and political issues that were in the forefront during their college years. They answer questions about how they think Smith has changed over the years as well as ways in which it has remained the same and tell personal stories that are a window into the universal and the uniquely personal experience of being a Smithie.
